Keyboard
Keyboardis used in entering data into the computer. It can type numbers, words, special character and symbols. It makes our work easier. The name “QWERTY” for our computer keyboard comes from the first six letters in the keyboard.
Keyboard – 5 Types of Keys found in Computer Keyboard
Number key – There are 20 number keys found in the keyboard. If you count only on the top of the keyboard there are 10 keys but if your keyboard has numeric keypad then there are total 20 number keys. For eg. 0 to 9 .
Function Key – There are 12 function key. Some of them are F1, F2, F3… etc. They are the keys that have a special function defined by the operating system, or by a currently running program.

Special Key – There are 14 special key. Some of the examples of special keys are space bar, enter, backspace, caps lock etc.
As we know computer is used in our everyday life so before using it we should know the functions of each and every key to make your work easier. Many times, users can be confused as these keys may be unfamiliar. Let’s look at each key one by one.
It’s always the largest and longest key on the keyboard
It is also used to pause video.
Enter
It is used to change line.
Pressing Enter activates the currently selected button or option.
In other words we can say that, Press Enter to move the cursor to the beginning of the next line. In a dialog box, press Enter to select the highlighted button.
Backspace
Used to delete any text.
It is also used to back the cursor.

Caps lock
Used for fully capital typing
By pressing Caps lock key will set a keyboard mode in which typed letters are capitalized.
By pressing again caps lock key we can switch keyboard mode off.
For example, if you press the Caps Lock key to enable Caps Lock, every letter you type on the keyboard will be automatically capitalized until you press it again to disable it.
Tab
Used to change column.
It is also used in moving the cursor into the next cell.
Esc [ Escape ]
It is used to remove any messages or close the information.
It is also used in exiting from the game or an app.
A key on computer keyboards, usually labeled Esc.
Pressing the Escape key usually cancels or aborts the current operation.
Delete
It is used in deleting the selected text.
Also used in delete any file, folder or selected text.
PgUp [ page up ]
Used to up the page
PgDn [ page down ]
Used to down the page
Shift Key
The key that you press on a computer keyboard when you want to write a capital letter.
By pressing shift key from one finger and entering the alphabet from another finger.
Home
Used to type from starting.
End
Used to type from last.
Num Lock
Used to lock number key.
PrntScr [ Print Screen ]
Used to capture the screen.
Same as screenshot.
Arrow key
By pressing the arrow key we can move the cursor Up, down, left and right.
There are eight arrow keys.
Ctrl [ Control key ]
A key on a computer keyboard that is used in combination with other keys for doing particular operations.
For eg. Ctrl + S, Ctrl+ V etc.
Window
Window Key is used to open start in which various application are shown.
F1
Opens a help screen when this key is pressed.
F2
Renames selected file
F3
Opens the file search box
F4
Opens the address bar in Windows Explorer
F5
Refreshes the screen in Windows Explorer
F6
Navigates between different sections of a Windows Explorer window
F7
Commonly used to spell check and grammar check in a document
F8
Used to enter the windows startup menu commonly used to access windows safe mode.
F9
Refresh document in Microsoft Word
F10
It activates the menu bar of an open application.
F11
Opens full screen mode in Explorer
F12
Open the Save as window in Microsoft Word
