Introduction
A computer suitable for use at an ordinary desk is called Desktop Computer. These parts of the computer and some other devices are connected together with the help of wires and cables. The 7 basic parts of a desktop computer are monitor, C.P.U, Mouse, keyboard, U.P.S, speakers and printer. Each part of a computer plays an important while using computer.

Monitor

Monitor is the displaying unit of the computer. Its shows whatever you type on the keyboard or draw with the mouse is displayed in the monitor. A monitor looks like a TV screen.
Types of Monitor
There are three types of monitor :
- CRT ( Cathode Ray Tube )
- LCD ( Liquid Crystal Display )
- LED ( Light – Emitting Diodes )



The newer monitor which usually have LED and LCD. These can be made very thin, and they are often called flat-panel displays.
Monitor contains two types of cables :
- Power Cable – It supply electricity to monitor.
- VGA Cable – The full form of VGA is Video Graphic Array. It takes information from C.P.U to monitor.
Mouse

Mouse is a device which is used to operate pointer. It is commonly known as pointing device. It helps in clicking, dragging and pointing the object on the screen.
There are two types of mouse :
- Normal Mouse – Normal mouse has a wire which is connected to the computer.
- Wireless Mouse – Whereas, Wireless mouse doesn’t have wires and it is connected to the computer through bluetooth.
Mouse button
- Left button – Left button is used to click things for eg. click to open any file.
- Right button – Right button is used to open the option.
- Scroll – It is used to scroll the page up and down, zoom in and out, to increase or decrease the size of icon size.
C.P.U

C.P.U or Central Processing Unit is known as the Brain of Computer. It is commonly called processor. It is the another important part of the computer where most of the calculations take place.
Some of the latest CPU are the Intel 80486 (486) processor is faster than the 80386 (386) processor. After the introduction of the Intel Pentium processor, all computer processors started using names like Athlon, Duron, Pentium, and Celeron.
Keyboard

Keyboard is used in entering data into the computer. It can type numbers, words, special character and symbols. It makes our work easier.
There are different types of key :-
- Alphabet key
- Number key
- Symbols
- Special keys
- Functional key
Alphabet Key – There are 26 alphabet key which helps in writing words.
Number key – There are 10 number key which helps in entering numbers.
Symbols – There are 32 symbol key. Some of the examples of symbol keys are ! , @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) : ” > < ? { } | + _ ~ etc.
Function Key – There are 12 function key. Some of them are F1, F2, F3… etc.
U.P.S

An uninterruptible power supply or uninterruptible power source ( UPS ) is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source or mains power fails. It is a type of continual power system. The more energy stored, the longer power can be maintained. In other words we can say that, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a device that allows a computer to keep running for at least a short time when incoming power is interrupted.
Speakers

These are used for listening music and allow to hear sound from the computer. The speakers are the output devices that produce different types of sounds processed by the computer. Listen to songs or speeches stored in the computer with the help of speakers. Depending on the model, they may connect to the audio port or the USB port. The electromagnetic waves are converted into sound waves through the speaker as they are transducers. Laptop, smartphone, or another device with built-in speakers, they do not need external speakers unless need of louder sounds, more bass, or surround sound.
Printer

A printer is a device which is used to print documents, pictures, PDF, photos anything which appears in screen want to take print out. There are many types of printer Inkjet printers, laser printers, All-in-one printers, Dot matrix printers, supertank printers and thermal printers.
Inkjet Printers
One of the most common and popular printers consumers are familiar with, color inkjet printers have rapidly become a staple in home offices for the less frequent printer. It is best suitable for Small office or home office printing, low volume color or photo printing, B&W printing jobs.
Laser Printers
Businesses require a printer that can maintain high quality and efficiency when faced with high volume printing. It is best suitable for Business and commercial printing needs; larger printing projects.
Thermal Printers
Thermal printers are popular among all types of commercial use due to their low cost and ease of use. Many businesses that print food labels, barcodes, receipts, etc.
